Cassie Herschel-Shorland Access and Museum Design

Access consultancy:

A range of consultancy services are offered to help galleries, museums or heritage services to meet their legal duties of the Equality Act 2010 (superseding the Disability Discrimination Act or DDA) and regulations for access. Our scope of work ranges from developing an access and inclusion policy and strategic approach to specific action planning.

We work directly with museum managers, curators, project managers and contractors as part of a project or design team.

Inclusive museum exhibition and interpretation design:

Inclusive design is integrated into redevelopment or new build projects from concept to completion for museums, galleries and heritage sites. Expert advice is given to exhibition designers and architects on inclusive museum and exhibition design in all stages through design reviews and workshops.

We provide inclusive design guidance with reference to current standards, regulations and provide access statements as relevant to each project. The inclusive design process can be documented in RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) stages, other project design stage reports or for funding reports.

The interpretation for a museum, collection or heritage site allows everyone to engage, learn, understand and enjoy more about the objects and site.
