Cassie Herschel-Shorland Access and Museum Design

Cassie Herschel-Shorland, BA Hons, AMA , FRSA, NRAC consultant

Cassie combines professional experience in exhibition, display and interpretation design with an understanding of potential barriers for people.

Taking a creative and holistic approach to inclusive design, Cassie promotes realistic, practical and sustainable solutions for access to museums, galleries and heritage sites together with an in-depth knowledge of current inclusive design standards.

Cassie manages a comprehensive service advising on: inclusive aspects of planning, design, operation and management for access to collections, venues, exhibitions, projects and events. Cassie works with design teams, exhibition designers, architects, curators, project managers, conservators and other experts at all stages of museum and gallery development projects.

As a mark of her expertise, Cassie holds professional membership to: National Register of Access Consultants (Consultant member), Museums Association (AMA), Royal Society of Arts (Fellow).

Cassie is a Heritage Lottery Fund, Associate Monitor for access and a member of CAE (Centre for Accessible Environments) panel of access consultants on museum and heritage projects.

As a talented artist and illustrator in her own right Cassie is a member of the South London Women Artists, and has exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and the Dulwich Picture Gallery.
